Carpets hold far more than they show. Grit walked in from outside sits down in the pile and grinds against the fibres every time somebody crosses the room, which is what wears a carpet out long before its time. Vacuuming lifts the surface dust. It does not reach what has settled at the base.
We use commercial hot water extraction, which injects a heated cleaning solution into the pile and draws it straight back out along with the soil it has loosened. Everything is done in your home, so nothing is taken away and nothing goes missing.

How We Do It
Inspection
We check the fibre type, the backing and how heavily soiled the carpet is. Wool, polypropylene and nylon all behave differently under heat and moisture, so this decides the temperature and solution we use.
Dry soil removal
A commercial vacuum goes over the carpet first. Skipping this step turns dry grit into mud, which is why hired machines often leave carpets looking worse.
Pre-treatment
Solution is applied to traffic lanes, doorways and marked areas, then left to dwell so it can break down the soil rather than just wet it.
Extraction
The machine works across the carpet in overlapping passes. Heated solution goes in under pressure and comes straight back out with the soil.
Drying
We make a final set of dry passes to pull out as much moisture as possible, then get air moving through the room.
Worth Knowing Before You Book
- Not every mark comes out. Bleach, dye transfer, ink and rust have changed the fibre colour rather than sitting on top of it, so no amount of cleaning will lift them.
- Cleaning can reveal wear that soiling was hiding. A heavily used hallway may look flattened once the dirt holding the pile together is gone.
- Some older carpets with jute backing can shrink or ripple. Where we see that risk we will tell you before we start.
Carpet Cleaning — Common Questions
Modern carpets with synthetic backing do not shrink. Older carpets with a jute backing carry some risk, particularly if they have been fitted loosely. We check the backing first and tell you if we have any concerns before starting.
