A rug takes concentrated wear. It sits in the busiest part of a room, absorbs everything dropped on it, and unlike a fitted carpet it has edges and a fringe that show soiling first. Rugs also tend to be the most expensive floor covering in a house by the square metre.
We clean rugs in your home rather than taking them away. That means no waiting weeks for a collection and return, no risk of the wrong rug coming back, and no gap in your living room in the meantime.

How We Do It
Identify the rug
Wool, silk, viscose, cotton and synthetic rugs all need different handling. Viscose in particular marks badly with water, so it has to be identified before anything else happens.
Dye test
A hidden area is tested for colour fastness. Hand-dyed and brightly patterned rugs can bleed, and once colours have run they cannot be separated again.
Dry soil removal
Both sides are vacuumed. A surprising amount of grit sits between the pile and the backing where it cannot be seen.
Clean
The pile is cleaned in the direction it lies, working in sections so no area sits wet for long.
Groom and dry
The pile is brushed back into line and air moved across the rug so it dries evenly rather than in patches.
Worth Knowing Before You Book
- Viscose and art silk rugs are easily damaged by moisture and can be left permanently marked. If your rug is viscose we will usually advise against wet cleaning and explain why.
- Hand-knotted and antique rugs may be better suited to a specialist wash plant than on-site cleaning. We will say so if that is our honest view.
- Unstable dyes can bleed. We test first, and will not proceed if the test shows colour movement.
Rug Cleaning — Common Questions
No. Everything is done in your home, usually in the room where the rug sits. You are not without it for days.
Yes. Wool needs lower heat and a solution with the right pH, which is why identifying the fibre first matters.
Fringes are cleaned by hand. They are cotton on most rugs and grey off faster than the pile, so they need separate attention.
No. We put protection underneath so no moisture reaches the floor beneath.
