Air fresheners cover a smell for a few hours. They do nothing about the source, which is why the odour is back the next morning. Removing a smell properly means finding what is producing it and dealing with that.
Most household odours come from something organic sitting in a soft surface: pet accidents in the carpet, spilled milk that has gone under the skirting, smoke residue that has settled into every fabric in the room, or damp that has been left too long. Each one needs a different approach.

How We Do It
Find the source
We check the carpet, the underlay where we can, upholstery and soft furnishings. A smell that fills a room often comes from one small area.
Identify the cause
Pet urine, smoke, damp, milk and food waste all need different chemistry. A general deodoriser sprayed over the top will not resolve any of them.
Deep clean
The affected material is cleaned and extracted. Much of the odour-causing residue leaves with the soil at this stage.
Targeted treatment
Where the cause is organic, an enzyme treatment is applied to break down what is producing the smell rather than mask it.
Check
We leave the area to dry and ask you to let us know how it is after a couple of days, since some odours need a second treatment.
Worth Knowing Before You Book
- If urine has soaked through the carpet into the underlay and floorboards, surface cleaning will not fully resolve it. In bad cases the underlay needs replacing, and we will tell you that rather than take your money twice.
- Smoke odour spreads into everything in a room, including walls and ceilings. Cleaning the carpet and upholstery helps considerably but may not remove all of it.
- Some odours need a second visit. Enzyme treatments work over days, not minutes.
Odour Removal — Common Questions
It depends entirely on the source and how deep it has gone. Surface odours usually clear completely. Odours that have soaked into underlay or subfloor may only reduce. We will give you our honest assessment before you commit.
Immediately after cleaning in most cases. Enzyme treatments keep working for two to three days, so the full result is not always apparent on the day.
No. Masking sprays sit on top of the problem and wear off. We treat the cause.
We can treat the carpets, upholstery and soft furnishings, which carry most of the residue. Walls and ceilings need decorating work that we do not cover.
