Stain Removal

Stain Removal in progress

Most stains are still removable long after people assume they are not. The problem is usually what happened first. Shop-bought stain removers often set the mark rather than lift it, and scrubbing spreads it wider and pushes it deeper into the pile.

Different stains need genuinely different chemistry. Coffee and tea are tannins, grease needs a solvent approach, and protein stains such as milk or blood turn permanent if heat is applied to them. Using the wrong product on the wrong stain is how a small mark becomes a permanent one.

What Is Included

  • Identification of the stain type where possible
  • Correct chemistry chosen for that specific stain
  • Treatment worked from the outside in to stop it spreading
  • Full rinse and extraction so no residue is left behind
  • Blending of the treated area into the surrounding carpet
  • An honest assessment before we start

How We Do It

01

Identify

What caused it, roughly how long ago, and what has already been tried. That last question matters most, because previous products change what will work now.

02

Test

The solution is tested in a hidden area to check the carpet or fabric will take it.

03

Treat

The stain is worked from the outer edge inwards, so it is not spread wider than it already is.

04

Rinse

The treated area is flushed and extracted. If cleaning product is left in the carpet it becomes sticky and attracts dirt, which is why treated spots often reappear darker.

05

Blend

The area is blended into the surrounding pile so there is no clean patch sitting in a dirtier carpet.

Worth Knowing Before You Book

  • Bleach, dye transfer, rust and ink have usually changed the colour of the fibre itself. No cleaning product restores colour that has been stripped out.
  • Older stains are harder than fresh ones, but age alone rarely makes something impossible.
  • If a shop-bought product has already been used, tell us which one. Some contain optical brighteners or bleaching agents that limit what can be done afterwards.

Stain Removal — Common Questions

Usually yes, and often even when it has dried. Fresh is easier, but dried wine responds well to the right treatment.

Surface marks often clean up. Urine that has soaked through to the underlay is a different job, because the source sits below the carpet. See our pet stain removal page.

Not by cleaning. Bleach strips the dye out of the fibre, so the colour is gone rather than covered. Re-dyeing or a patch repair is the only route.

Blot with a clean white cloth and plain water. That is all. Avoid coloured cloths, washing-up liquid and shop-bought sprays, as all three make professional removal harder.
